The King of the Swingers

Central Coast day 2

We woke up to grey skies this morning but no rain. Claire and I left the blinds open so we could watch the sunrise from bed, but our plans were scuppered, in part by the grey skies but in the main by us falling asleep at the crucial moment.

Nevertheless we enjoyed several cups of tea in bed whilst Kim put us to shame and went for a run on the beach.

We eventually got up and went for a stroll on the beach. We met Kim on our way, who had some pretty impressive sand blisters on her big toes from running in bare feet. I think she wished she'd gone for the cup of tea in bed option instead.
This is probably as good a time as any to mention that Kim has turned out to be a sand snob. Upon seeing the beach yesterday she remarked "oh, it's yellow sand, never mind", when pressed on this it turns out that yellow sand (traditional sandy coloured sand) is apparently inferior to white sand in a lot of people's eyes.

We also saw some more Rainbow Lorikeets on the way and managed to get close enough to take a photo. Hopefully it has uploaded properly.

The beach is a lovely beach, the nicest we've been to since we've been here. There are also no Beach Police here, hence there were lots of people swimming and bodyboarding in what I thought were quite dangerous places near some rocks. We didn't see any accidents though so maybe they knew what they were doing rather than just being rebels.

We didn't go swimming today. We spent a while peering into rock pools and into the sky looking for more new Australian creatures. We were rewarded by some pretty nippy mini fish in the pools and the sight of a White Bellied Sea Eagle swooping down on it's dinner in the sea before scoffing it in a nearby tree.

This afternoon we went to a nearby crazy golf course called "Swingers". This of course led to numerous innuendos by the filthy Davis sisters (none from me of course). I'm sure the rule card was deliberately worded in double entendres. It was a very close game, a lot over par, but I managed to steal the game from Kim in a tie break.

We were tempted to have a go on the driving range but decided to save that for another day. Don't want to over do it. We headed back to the apartment for an early barbecue on the balcony before it got chilly in the evening breeze.

We're hoping for a sunny day tomorrow so we can have a full on beach day.
